The UConn Club will conduct its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 6:00 pm in Storrs, CT at the UConn Alumni Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
All members are invited to attend this review of The UConn\nClub and Athletics achievements over the past year. Elections of Board members will also take\nplace at the meeting. If you are\nplanning to attend the meeting, please RSVP to UConnClubBoard@theuconnclub.org <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UConn Club is inviting nominations for its Board of\nDirectors. The UConn Club Board of\nDirectors currently consists of 23 people who serve a three year term. Each year one third of the Directors are up\nfor re-election to serve a new term and opportunities for new Board members\nbecome available. Serving on the Board\nof Directors can be a rewarding experience knowing that you are assisting the\nUniversity of Connecticut and the Department of Athletics provide funding for\nstudent-athlete scholarships and other Athletics Department priorities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UConn Club is a 501 (c) (3) organization dedicated to\nraising money to help better the Athletic experience at the University of\nConnecticut. The UConn Club By-Laws read in part: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2.1 To unite the alumni and friends of\nThe University of Connecticut who wish to express their interest in the\nUniversity and desire to serve it through their particular interest in\nUniversity of Connecticut athletics and generally to present The University of\nConnecticut in a most favorable light. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
2.5 To carry on fund raising for the\nUConn Husky Athletic Fund and The UConn Club and to provide for athletic\nfacilities, capital improvements and to meet such other financial needs of\nathletics of The University of Connecticut deemed proper by The UConn Club and\nin consultation with the Athletics Director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The UConn Club engages in a number of fundraising ventures.\nOne event is our Auction often held in conjunction with a basketball game and on-line. Directors are expected to solicit gifts and\nwork the day of the auction. Another event is a golf outing at The Country Club\nof Waterbury, which members would be expected to solicit foursomes for golf and\ntee sponsors. The UConn Club also runs\nraffles, where Board members help promote the raffle and sell tickets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In order to become a member of the Board of Directors you must be a club member in good standing. The Board meets approximately 10 times per year at locations primarily in the center of the state. Each meeting is held in the evening from approximately 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Board has a variety of sub committees and all Directors are expected to serve on a subcommittee. You will be contacted and interviewed by the Nomination Committee.
